Prof Walter BrownProfessor of Psychiatry, Author
Dr Brown is a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Brown University. He received his medical degree from Duke University, served as a research fellow at the National Institutes of Health and completed his residency in psychiatry at Yale. He co-founded and served as president of Clinical Studies, a multi-center clinical trials organization, and co-founded and was president and medical director of Clinical Research Centers International. Dr Brown’s research in neuroendocrinology and psychopharmacology, and his work in drug development, prompted his interest in the placebo response, which he has studied for 25 years. He has authored or co-authored more than 200 papers, more than 30 of which have been academic papers on the placebo effect. His book, The Placebo Effect in Clinical Practice, was published by Oxford University Press in 2013.
